Joe Luis Armendariz, 71, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on May 24, 2021, in Odessa.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021. A Holy rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home in Odessa.

Visitation will continue at Fort Stockton Christian Worship Center on Friday, May 28, 2021, in Fort Stockton, Texas, from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday May 28, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Downtown Campus in Fort Stockton at 2 p.m. with Father Lorenzo Hatch officiating.

Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.

He was born July 13, 1949, in Fort Stockton to Jose Angel and Amanda Ramirez Armendariz. He enjoyed horse races, dancing, and oldies music. He especially loved his Houston Texans. On Nov. 3, 1993, Luis married Glenda Diaz Valenzuela. Luis also worked as a mechanic and truck driver for many years before becoming disabled.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents Jose Angel and Amanda Armendariz, an infant older brother, his sister Amanda A. Rodriguez, one son Joey Diaz, and two grandsons.

He is survived by his wife Glenda of Odessa; four sons, Luis Ray Armendariz (Lisa) of Wink, Texas, Orlando Armendariz (Adriana) of Midland, Texas, Gabriel Armendariz (Celina) of Fort Stockton, and Hector Valenzuela (Christina) of Odessa; three daughters, Olivia Armendariz of Fort Stockton, Neidia Rankin (Chris) of Odessa, and Veronica Valenzuela Jackson (Nathan) of Odessa; sister Ilda Cuevas of Midland, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Adrian Armendariz, Nicholas Armendariz, Treston Armendariz, Tony Armendariz, Arturo Castaneda, Prestyn Armendariz, Adan Armendariz, and MJ Salmon. Honorary pallbearers will be AJ Armendariz and Jonah Armendariz.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks Midland Memorial CCU and Medical Center Hospital Continued Care department for all the care and support they provided while he was in their care.
