The Vasquez Family is sad to announce the passing of Inez Vasquez, devoted daughter, loving mother, and dedicated sibling, aged 73, of Houston, Texas on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her father, Hilario Lyles Vasquez; her mother, Eva Garcia Vasquez, and her brother, Isidro Vasquez. Inez is survived by her son, Shawn Vasquez along with his wife, Hiba Kerdy and daughters Theia Kerdy-Vasquez and Celine Kerdy-Vasquez; Inez’s granddaughters, as well as her siblings, sisters Betty Jane Rodriguez, Beatrice Lopez and Caroline Vasquez-Hurman, and brother Robert Vasquez.

Inez taught math and French at Fort Stockton High School and invested herself completely in her students’ success. Her years teaching French created some of the most precious memories that she carried with her throughout her life.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend, 301 N. Main Street in Fort Stockton. Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2023, also at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral mass will take place in Inez’s honor at 10 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 403 S. Main Street in Fort Stockton. Interment to follow funeral mass at the Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
