Gerald Bryant “Jerry” Shugart died on April 21, 2021, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, after a lengthy illness. Jerry was born in Eldorado, Texas on Nov. 6, 1946. The Shugart family moved to Fort Stockton, Texas, from Eldorado when Jerry was eight years old. He graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1965, where he was involved in all journalism activities and tennis.

Jerry enrolled at Texas Tech University, and graduated from there in 1972. After graduation from college, Jerry worked for SEDCO in Dallas, designing down hole tooling for the oil industry.

Tragically in 1975 Jerry’s father Jack died in an airplane crash, and Jerry moved to San Louis Potosi to manage family properties. Jerry married Patricia “Patti” Hicks in 1979. Soon after marrying Patti, he accepted salvation from the Lord, and was a dedicated Christian from then on. Until his death, Jerry immersed himself in God's Word. He wrote and published several books that can be found on amazon.com. His passion was the challenge of clarifying theological controversy.

Jerry loved life, he loved his fellow man, and he loved the Lord.

Preceding him in death were his father Jack Alton Shugart, his mother Lorena Oliver Shugart, and his sister Janie Shugart. He is survived by his wife Patti, his son Jack, and his sister Jacquelyn McClure.
