Federico “Freddie” Celaya Sanchez was born Oct. 5, 1955, to Manuel White Sanchez and Margarita Celaya Sanchez in Midland, Texas. He was called home to his loving Savior on April 9, 2021, at the age of 65.

Freddie was an amazing, hard working man, full of faith and full of life. He married the love of his life, Ofelia Bernal, in Fort Stockton, Texas, on Nov. 17, 1979, and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage together. They built a wonderful life together in Odessa, Texas, and raised two daughters, Lisa and Laci.

Freddie worked for General Tire where he was the first union president in Odessa until they closed, and he was then hired on with USW where he worked as a staff representative for 27 years. He officially retired on April 8, 2021.

He enjoyed being outdoors with his roosters and farm animals, tending to his land from sun up until sun down. He worked so hard all his life to give his wife, children, and grandchildren the best life he could offer them. He was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren whom he loved tremendously. He was the best teto to those babies.

He had a heart of gold, and lived an amazing life. He exuded such a beautiful light into this world, and shared that with everyone he came across. He was a man full of faith and love for God. He left this world after fighting such a hard battle, surrounded by family in the peace and comfort of his home. He leaves behind a legacy that many people will forever cherish.

Freddie was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Margarita Sanchez.

He is survived by his wife, Ofelia Sanchez; daughters Lisa Ramirez and Laci Sanchez; son-in-law Andrew Ramirez; grandchildren Julissa Ramirez, Mikayla Ramirez, Andrew Ramirez, and Eli Ramirez; sisters Alvina Lopez ( Ector), Irene Ortega, Delfina Gonzalez (Hector), Delma Riojas (Saul); brother Manuel Junior Sanchez; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
