Eliseo "George" Gonzales of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on Dec. 10, 2023, peacefully at home with his loved ones.

Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 301 N. Main Street in Fort Stockton, followed by rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, 10 a.m., with Father Francis Njoku at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 4094 North Hwy. 18 in Fort Stockton. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend.

Eliseo Gonzales was born in Fort Stockton, Texas to parents Ladislado and Josefa Gonzales.

He graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1953 excelling in his athletic abilities.

He continued to play semi pro baseball for the Red Sox for five years where he found a passion for golf during his time off. Eliseo married Elodia Gonzales on June 11,1961, where they had two beautiful children, George and Cynthia.

Eliseo worked for the Texas Department of Public Transportation Engineering Department for 38 years. Upon retirement, Eliso loved spending time with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Eliseo is preceded in death by his parents Ladislado and Josefa Gonzales; his sisters Mary Pascuala and Nana Ortega; his brother L.M Gonzales, and his son George Gonzales.

Eliseo is survived by his wife Elodia Gonzales; his daughter Cyndy Griggs, and his four grandchildren Alexa Jordan, Logan Griggs, Sophia Gonzales, Christian Gonzales; four great grandchildren Harlow Jordan, Hallie Jordan, Creadyn Griggs and Hazlea Griggs.

Pallbearers include Christian Gonzales, Logan Griggs, Chad Jordan, Billy Espino, Richard Hernandez, and Roger Camunas.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John Morrow, David Shuster, and Scooter Parks.

The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to PCMH Home Hospice for the wonderful care they provided, to all who have stopped by, called and for those who have kept us in their prayers during this difficult time.
