Body

Dennis Leon Yeager, 61, passed away at his home in Fredericksburg, Texas, on April 29, 2021. He was born on Sept. 23, 1959, in Colorado City, Texas. Dennis married his first love, Lynn Stewart, in 1977, and they were together for 44 years.

He graduated from the Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy in 1979. He first served as a Fort Stockton, Texas, police officer, then later as a Pecos County Deputy Sheriff for four years. He then began his oilfield career with a coring company, often traveling around the world to places in the Middle East, the North Sea, Canada, and Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. In 1992, along with his wife Lynn, he founded DOWDCO, a coring and drill bit company in Midland, Texas. He was employed with DOWDCO until he took an early retirement at age 50.

Dennis was a modern-day good Samaritan, always helping other people. He had a heart as big as Texas. He is often referred to as a one-of-a-kind, a gentle giant, or a big teddy bear.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn, his daughter and son-in-law, Autumn and Chad Faucheux of Fredericksburg, Texas; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Yeager of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Ellie, Parker, and Ava Faucheux, and Hannah and Hudson Yeager; his brother and sister-in-law Paul and Molly Yeager of Fort Stockton; his sister and brother-in-law Sara and Willie Adcock of Abilene, Texas; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Stuart Alan Yeager, of Midland, and his parents Henry and Virginia Yeager of Colorado City, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Lee Bingham, Keith Smith, Paul Yeager, John Yeager, Casey Yeager, Sean Reising, Tate Randall, and Joe Johnson. Matthew Skinner is the officiating clergy.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. at Schaetter’s Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Texas Rangers Pavilion in Fredericksburg. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to the Good Samaritan Center in Fredericksburg or the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department.
