Arturo (Chavel) I. Sarabia 81 of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on Jan. 20, 2023, in Fort Stockton, Texas.

Arturo was born in Sanderson, Texas to Epifano B. Sarabia and Manuelita F. De La Cruz on Nov. 19, 1941. Arturo attended school in Fort Stockton. Arturo married Yolanda B. Sarabia in the Summer of 1987 in Fort Stockton. He worked as a highway foreman for the Texas Department of Highways for 32 years. He loved coaching little league baseball and would even play softball himself in his adulthood. Arturo was known for his deep love and passion for baseball and college football. His favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs and the Texas Longhorns. He even had a vast collection of baseball, football, and basketball cards.

Arturo is preceded in death by his father Epifano Sarabia, mother Manuelita F. De La Cruz; brothers Alejandro Sarabia, Acension (Chon) Sarabia, Santana Sarabia and Abelardo (Lalo) Sarabia; sisters Angelita Diaz, Antonia (Tonia) Rios, Alicia Gomez, and Anita (Nena) Leyva; sons Victor and Juan Manuel Sarabia; daughter Racheal Marie Sarabia. Arturo is also preceded in death by his wife Yolanda B. Sarabia.

Arturo is survived by his son Martin Angel Sarabia and wife Ema Sarabia; daughter-in-law Margarita C. Sarabia (late Victor). Grandchildren Victoria Aurelia Sarabia, Angelina Maria Sarabia, Auden Mejarez, J.T. Ramirez, Bianca Ramirez, Roxie (Levi) Urias and great granddaughter Emilia Yolanda Faustina Sarabia as well as many nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be Tony Blanco, Gabriel Hernandez, Hugo Lujan, Robert Lopez, Gabriel Carrillo, and JT Ramirez.

Visitation will take place Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 from 12-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend, 301 N. Main Street in Fort Stockton. Recitation of Rosary will be Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 at 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend. Funeral mass will be Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 403 S. Main Street in Fort Stockton.
