Ana Maria Montferrand, 82, of Fort Stockton, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, in Fort Stockton, Texas.

Visitation was on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, with a Rosary recited at the Eternity Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Francis Njoku, officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Eternity Funeral Home.

Ana Maria Montferrand was born in El Carrizo, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Victoriano Prieto and Martina Jaquez on July 26, 1940. She married Sergio Garcia Montferrand (the love of her life) on Dec. 4, 1970, in Presidio, Texas.

She worked numerous jobs in the service industry and retired as a cook at the Sunday House Alpine Lodge. Ana loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She touched many lives with her smile and passion for life and was well known for her classy, elegant style. As a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother she was the person everyone looked to for guidance and strength. Ana passed away with a young spirit while carrying the weight of her husband’s absence. “ANA MARIA”, “MAMI”, “MAMA”, “NANA” has been called home and will forever be missed.

Ana was preceded in death by her parents: Victoriano Prieto and Martina Jaquez, spouse: Sergio Garcia Montferrand, son: Martin Antonio Montferrand, siblings: Francisco Prieto, Jesus Prieto, Domingo Prieto, Josefina Prieto, Lucila Gaytan, Roberto Prieto, Juanita Prieto, Trinidad Prieto, Jose Prieto.

Ana is survived by her children: Sergio Arturo Montferrand (Jessica), Magda Montferrand Galindo (Beto), Roberto Prieto Montferrand (Rosie). Grandchildren: Tristan Montferrand, Sophia Montferrand, Roberto Eliseo Montferrand, Bailey Galindo, Grisel Rogers, Kefren Borjon, Nayla Borjon, Haley Montferrand. Greatgrandchildren: Eliseo Max Montferrand, Milo Montferrand. Siblings: Guadalupe Prieto, Dominga Escajeda. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended grandchildren that knew her as “Welita.” The pallbearers were Joe Prieto, Armando Reyes, Luis Reyes, Pete Gaytan, Cookie Escajeda, Andy Rooke.
