Alpine man dies in Pecos County crash

A 58-year-old Alpine man was killed Sept. 14 when a vehicle he was driving ran off the roadway on Farm-to-Market Road 1776, one mile north of Interstate 10 in Pecos County. The accident took place at approximately 7:06 p.m. when Jason Keith Richardson, 58, of Alpine, was driving his 1995 Honda Accord southbound on FM 1776 at what Troopers described as an unsafe speed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle veered off the highway into the east barrow ditch, over-corrected, and rolled over. The driver was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Mitchell.
