One of the biggest Events in Fort Stockton returns next Week for the 3rd Annual Big Bend Open Road Race 2.0. The second road race of the year, which began in 2020.
The Texas Well Owner Network, TWON, is hosting four upcoming events in West Texas on Oct. 10-13 to allow residents to have their well water screened: one “Well Educated” water well screening in Alpine and three “Well Informed” water well screenings in Fort Stockton, Pecos and El Paso.
The vast expanse of West Texas is what brings visitors and residents to the Trans Pecos and Davis Mountains, but those wide-open spaces can be difficult for school athletic teams who travel those long distance to play one another. But soon, Fort Stockton Middle and High School athletes and coaches will travel in style thanks to seven new buses approved for purchase at Monday’s district school board meeting.

The Pecos County Commissioners Court breezed through an abbreviated agenda Monday morning, approving everything that was up for discussion. Things got started when Pecos County Extension Agent Elaine Haby read a lengthy proclamation as the commissioner’s court recognized National 4-H week Oct.
Several Opinion pieces have been published in the Pioneer questioning the health and wellbeing of the Edwards-Trinity Aquifer in the Fort Stockton area. This Aquifer is an incredible resource which recharges annually and has long supplied drinking water to Ft. Stockton, irrigation for local farmers, and periodic winter flows to Comanche Springs.
