The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin awarded the Fort Stockton Public Library with a $5,000 sub-grant on Nov. 21. The funds, which will be available to the library in January, will be used for the Mango Languages Program.

The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin is addressing one of the common challenges that adult education providers expressed in the Permian Basin Need Assessment by providing sub-grants to Coalition members. As a membership benefit, members can apply for sub-grants for new or existing literacy programs.

The coalition has been in existence for 18 months and supports literacy programs in 22 counties currently.
