The Fort Stockton ISD School Board took the first step towards utilizing their voter-approved bond proposition funds at a special meeting on Nov. 15.

Board members in attendance – Andy Rivera, Ursula Sanchez, Anastacio Dominguez – canvassed the official vote tally for the FSISD bond election.

“I move to adopt the resolution canvassing the return of the declaration of the results of the bond election,” Dominguez stated.

Rivera moved to approve the motion and Sanchez seconded the motion to make the results official for the school district.

The final vote tally, which was provided by Pecos County Deputy Clerk Sophia Franco on Tuesday, for Proposition A was 1,795 votes in favor and 1,302 against. For Proposition B, 1,738 votes were in favor and 1,369 votes were against. “Principals at every campus have to come up with a committee to make sure there is input from the teachers and stakeholders on that campus,” he said at Tuesday’s meeting. “We know we’re going to get it done, it just helps to have input from the in-user.”

Fort Stockton ISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Zamora stated in an interview that the district will use fund balance to get prioritized projects going immediately in the district, if not already having done so, and use bond money to reimburse the fund through resolutions.
