The Pecos County Commissioner’s Court on Nov. 28 declared an emergency and fronted Pecos County Memorial Hospital an additional $550,000 in operating funds. Hospital CEO Betsy Briscoe said the hospital will need the funds to cover payroll on Dec. 7.

“We do have enough in the bank right at the moment, but that payroll is going to come up in between now and the next commissioner’s court,” Briscoe said, adding that the hospital received some payments Nov. 17, but hasn’t received any “big dollar payments.”

“I’m not sure that we’re going to between now and the next, that’s the hard part about this is I’m not sure we’re going to between now and the seventh,” Briscoe added. “If we do, it’ll cover it but if we don’t, it won’t. That’s the hard part with all of this.”

The court voted to amend the budget for the additional operating funds for the hospital.

In other hospital-related action, Briscoe reported overtime of 463.5 hours or $17,154.42 and Accounts Payable at $622,160.

Briscoe said the hospital is still waiting for the final damage report from the Oct. 10 flood so they can send the repairs out for bid.

The county treasurer reported election overtime from Oct. 16-Nov. 15 totaling $648; EMS part-time overtime pay of $300; full-time EMS overtime pay Oct. 29-Nov. 11 totaled $25,574.89; comp and vacation pay for a sheriff’s department employee who left Nov. 15 was $5,672.32; vacation, comp ad straight time payout for an adult probation employee who left on Nov. 10 was $986.48, and another adult probation employee who left on Nov. 9 was paid $331.17; Precinct 4 water straight pay and overtime from Oct. 29-Nov. 11 was $401.97; vector spray pay Nov. 1-15 was $815.43; comp, straight time and vacation pay for a Precinct 1 employee who left Nov. 15 was $3,456.63.
