In a coordinated effort between the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, of which the 83rd District Attorney’s Office is a member, as well as assistance from the FBI Task Force (Houston) and Texas Ranger Phillip Breeding, fugitive sex offender, Ramon Alvarado Chacon, was arrested Monday July 29, 2013 at 5:45p.m. at a residence in Monahans.
Soon after taking office in January, 83rd District Attorney, Rod Ponton, and staff, identified Chacon as a fugitive and began a search. He was indicted by a Brewster County Grand Jury on Nov. 18, 2009 for the offense of aggravated sexual assault of a child that occurred on Sept. 6, 2009.
Chacon fled after posting a $25,000 bond on Sept. 24 of that year. Chacon was arrested and transported to the Brewster County jail where he is being held without bond.
“Chacon will be prosecuted as soon as possible for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl,” said D.A. Rod Ponton.
