May 1984 issue: In a draft dominated by defense, Fort Stockton’s Rick McIvor was one a handful of college quarterbacks to be picked in the National Football League draft Tuesday. McIvor, who capped a roller-coaster career at Texas with a brilliant, record-tying four touchdown performance against Texas A&M, was selected in the third round by the St. Louis Cardinals.
