Fort Stockton Film Society to Screen The Searchers

The Fort Stockton Film Society will play host to a showing of the 1956 classic western, The Searchers, on Saturday at 7 p.m. It will be also feature free popcorn and free admission, courtesy of First National Bank of Fort Stockton, so bring your whole family for a Saturday night at the movies. There will also be a classic Warner Brothers cartoon shown just before the main feature.

The Searchers stars John Wayne as a Confederate veteran who returns to Texas so search for his niece, who was abducted by a band of Comanches. It also co-stars Natalie Wood and Jeffery Hunter. The Searchers was named the greatest western of all time by the American Film Institute in 2008.

The screening will start at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 at the Nelson Street Theater located at 102 South Nelson Street in downtown Fort Stockton. Admission is FREE, courtesy of First National Bank of Fort Stockton but donations are gladly accepted.
