EVERY WEDNESDAY THROUGH JULY 26 The Imperial Public Library will again present a Summer Reading Program. All age groups are encouraged to read and enjoy the many benefits of the library over the summer. The theme for this year is, “All Together Now.” The program is every Wednesday from 10 a.m.-Noon starting June 21 and ending July 26. For More info call (432) 5362236.

American Legion Post 234 will be conducting its monthly meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Pecos County Senior Citizens Center on 1010 West 14th Street in Fort Stockton. Star Spangled Bash at Rooney Park. Co-ed sand volleyball tournament begins at 10 a.m.; Main Street Parade begins at 5:30 p.m.; Stakitas Car Show is at 6 p.m.; volleyball tournament at 6:30 p.m.; fireworks show at 10 p.m.

Fort Stockton Volunteer Fire Department Bike Rodeo and MDA Fill the Boot, James Rooney Park Pit 4, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Free Bicycles and free kids’ helmets (while supplies last), Bike Safety Education and Inspections, FITKIDS Firefighter Training, Watermelon-eating contest.

JULY 3

The Pecos County Senior Citizens Center will also play host its annual 4th of July Hot Dog Cookout Monday, July 3, at noon. Grilled hot dogs with all the fixings will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish. The cookout is open to all Senior Center members, but any Pecos County resident 55 and older may join by paying annual dues of only $5.

The 87th Water Carnival at the Comanche Springs Pool. This year’s show “Weekend at the Fort,” is directed by Kellie Wiest Young and Katie Salmon.

JULY 17-20

A soccer camp for boys and girls ages 6-12 years takes place at Rooney Park from 8 a.m.-Noon. Participation is free, register before July 14. Each child gets a free jersey, daily snacks and drinks. Children will learn dribbling, kicking, trapping and positions, sportsmanship and life lessons. For registration forms and more information, call the First Baptist Church at (432) 336-3307.

JULY 17-20

The Sul Ross State women’s basketball coaching staff will be playing host to a series of basketball camps at the Pete P. Gallego Center this summer. A day camp for ages 7-17 takes place July 17-20. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m.-Noon each day. Snacks and bottled water will be provided.
