A trailblazer over the course of her career in banking, Lou Ann Tovar decided to call it a career this past week after working 44 years in the banking industry. Tovar wore most hats in the industry during her time as a banker, starting in 1977, three days after she graduated from high school.

Working hard and giving to others were principles of life that Nancy Olvera learned at a young age. Olvera’s father, who was pastor, taught her those principles during her childhood in Presidio and Olvera carried out those values throughout her life.

After five breakdowns on their 1997 RV, George and Patricia of Florida pulled into Fort Stockton with big smiles and an abundance of roadside stories. “Originally we’re both Oregonians,” said George from the driver side of a minivan.

111 YEARS OF RANCHING

The Hayter family celebrated the 111th anniversary of ranching at the Hayter Ranch on June 19, located 40 miles west of Fort Stockton in Pecos County. The Hayter Ranch has continued agricultural production by the same family for the last 111 years. The ranch was founded in 1910 by Robert Pippen “Bob” Hayter and Robert Hounshell “Jack” Hayter.
