Nursing student honors mother’s legacy

Ever since she was 5-years-old, Ashleigh Ramirez wanted to be a nurse, just like her mother Lorena. Later, when Ashleigh was in high school, the mother and daughter team had a plan: When Ashleigh graduated from high school, she would take nursing courses at the Midland College Williams Regional Technical Training Center (WRTTC) in Fort Stockton and proceed to work at the McCamey Hospital with her mom so that her mother could give her hands-on advice.

Fort Stockton’s 85th Water Carnival

The 85th Water Carnival was held from July 15-17 at the Comanche Springs Pool in Fort Stockton. The show themed “How Not To Propose In Vegas” featured water acts and dances pool side with individuals of all age groups. The show was held each evening from Thursday through Saturday after six pageant competition. The carnival resumed in 2021 after a cancellation of the show in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Miss Fort Stockton 2021

Gabriella Renteria was crowned Miss Fort Stockton 2021 on July 17 after the final showing of the Water Carnival. Renteria was one crowned by Miss Fort Stockton 2020 Katie Salmon. Renteria was one of six contestants who competed in the Miss Fort Stockton pageant. Other competitors includes Alyana Dominguez, Ysabella Sanchez, Izabella Diaz, Serena Quiroz, Gabriela Galindo. Dear Fort Stockton, I have loved you since the day was born, I can’t picture myself I growing up anywhere other than here. My family’s roots run deep in Fort Stockton, my roots run deep in Fort Stockton and I’m glad I never have to imagine what it would be like if that weren’t the case.
