Ministerial Alliance Honored

The Fort Stockton Ministerial Alliance and representative, First Baptist Church Pastor Warren Camp, was honored by the Fort Stockton Independent School District School Board for the donation of over a 1,000 backpacks that were given out to students for free. Toastmasters winners

Karan Heffelfinger was presented the Best Speaker Award by Houston McKenzie at the Toastmasters meeting on Aug. 13 at the Fort Stockton Public Library. Fort Stockton High School, Midland College grad encourages others to achieve success

When Geneva Duarte-Diaz enrolled in Midland College in 1991 at the age of 20, she had no idea about college or how to pay for college.  She just knew that she needed a college education to make a better life for herself and her family.

The first-generation college student now has several certificates, an associate degree, and a bachelor’s degree from Midland College.She helps high school students discover pathways to higher education.

Chamber thanks healthcare providers

The Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce delivered cookies and muffins to the Pecos County Memorial Hospital, PCMH Walk-In Clinic, and Cactus Health Services to thank all of the health care providers at these facilities for their hard work and diligence during these trying times. “While we know this small gesture does not help with them the tremendous stress and pressure they are under dealing with COVID in our community, we hope it brings a smile and a small break in an otherwise hectic day. 1pkg, Lit’l Smokies and 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll , cut into small triangles. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Wrap individual smokies around dough. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake five minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy.

Fort Stockton ISD Students of the Month

The Fort Stockton Independent School District recognized five Students of the Month for August at the district’s school board meeting yesterday evening. One student from each campus was presented a certificate by the principal at the campus they attend. Teachers from each campus nominated students who showed excellence in academics, leadership, motivation, and other various criteria that was fitting for each campus. Photos by Nathan Heuer
