Commissioners OK deal with city over utilities

The construction of housing to lodge workers who will build the Century Plant took another step toward fruition Monday morning when the Pecos County Commissioners Court approved an agreement between the county and City of Fort Stockton.

The accord will allow the city to run its utilities the length of Bluebird Lane in Mesa View and will transfer the county's easements and dedicated right-of-ways for city utilities.
The projected is expected to cost about $300,000, according to information presented at a recent Fort Stockton City Council meeting. The City Council is hoping to allocate about $80,000 for pipes.

SandRidge Energy Inc. is expected to provide the labor to install the infrastructure, according to Fort Stockton Economic Development Corporation director Doug May.

Among other business, the court:

>> approved an increase to the 2009 Texas County and District Retirement System Plan; the total rate will be 7.23 percent

>> called for bids for the leasing of the Pecos County Memorial Hospital two-room sleep lab and sleep lab equipment

>> approved the Sanderson Canyon Watershed operations and maintenance agreement; the agreement incurs no cost for the county

>> approved a payment of $5,033 to the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division for a TxDOT runway lights project at Fort Stockton-Pecos County Airport

>> approved a 90-day burn ban; the ban will be in effect from Nov. 24 through Feb. 24

>> approved the 2007 Annual Pecos County Audit Report as presented by Elms, Faris & Co. LLP

>> approved Amendment No. 1 to the contract agreement between PCMH and Lott Brothers Construction Company Ltd for the hospital's Physical Therapy and Wellness Center, which is currently under construction.

>> approved a lease agreement with Yellowhouse Machinery for a steel roller

>> called for bids for 15- and 20-foot Bat Wing mowers; the bids are to be opened at 11 a.m. Dec. 22

>> approved budget amendments of up to $30,000 for the Pecos County Jail

>> approved a request from the 112th Judicial District for $13,248 for a secretarial position in Ozona; the amount is Pecos County's 53-percent share of the total

>> approved payment of overtime and accounts payable for PCMH, as presented by PCMH chief executive officer Russell Tippin

>> approved financial report and payment of county overtime, as presented by County Treasurer Barry McCallister

>> approved line item transfers and budget amendments, reports of county offices, financial report and all accounts, as presented by the County Auditor's office

In a special session Nov. 13, the court accepted as presented the canvass of votes from the Nov. 4 election.
