COME CELEBRATE WITH US "SENIOR CITIZEN'S DAY" AT THE FORT STOCKTON SCHOOLS
Each year the Fort Stockton Schools plan and serve a special lunch honoring our great city's Senior Citizens in each cafeteria. Every year 450-500 of our citizens join up with their friends for lunch, or wait with a special twinkle in their eye for their grandchild, (and some even their great-grandchild), to come through the cafeteria line so that they can eat lunch together.
In anticipation of the event, programs are practiced, handmade placemats are made, turkeys are cut out for the table centerpieces, and the teachers at the elementary schools help the kids to make their own costumes of Pilgrims and Indians, which the kids wear proudly to lunch that day. Our children truly prepare hearts, minds, and souls for this day.
It is our school district's way of showing our Senior Citizens how much we cherish them and ask that they stay involved with our kids and our schools, even though their childrearing days may be far behind them.
As always our guests will find, Turkey with Cornbread Dressing, Giblet Gravy, Green Beans, Au Gratin Potatoes, Pork Asado, among the many choices available daily at our cafeterias. As always this lunch is provided at NO CHARGE to our Senior Citizens.
This year the Senior Citizen Lunch Day is Thursday, November 13,2008, from 11:30am-12:30pm at any cafeteria. In anticipation of this event, we ask that our guests call the cafeteria office and tell us which school cafeteria you would like to visit. Please call 336-4030 by November 12, 2008.
To all Parents with children in school, your special day this year will be on December 11, 2008. Your school will be sending flyers home with your children with all the details at a later date. Due to space limitations, we ask that you wait until then to join in the lunch fun!
