McCallister Invite to tee off Saturday

The Blaine McCallister Invitational Golf Tournament is set to tee off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, but the festivities surrounding the tournament were scheduled to get under way Wednesday, according to tournament organizer Barry McCallister.

Several sponsors of the tournament were scheduled to go hunting with Blaine and Barry McCallister Wednesday and are scheduled to go hunting today.
In addition to the main tournament, junior golfers are set to compete in their own two-man scramble Friday afternoon, Barry McCallister said.

The main tournament, comprised of 100 two-man teams playing in 10 flights, will get under way with individual tee times Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Saturday night's events include a meal, junior golfer awards, and auction items to include two autographed football helmets - one from the Super Bowl champion New York Giants and the other from the New England Patriots, according to Barry McCallister.

Other items include an Emmitt Smith Dallas Cowboys jersey, an autographed Roger Staubach Cowboys jersey, a Masters flag autographed by Phil Mickelson and a baseball signed by Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox.

The Saturday evening events will conclude with a dance featuring Duck Soup from Austin, a band that has played for PGA Tour events. The band played last week at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.
