Property Tax Hat: Two County Property Tax deadlines came looming on June 30th. The due date for the second half of the "split payment" option and the last day to avoid additional "collection fees" for delinquent accounts. These kept us very busy.
Jury Wheel Hat: After the District Clerk mails out to Jury prospects, we receive lots of corrections, i.e., over 70 years old that wish to be taken off the list and sick with Drs. excuse and signed by District Judge to remove from Jury Wheel List and numerous other excuses that only the District Judges can accept. We encourage you to serve if you are asked to, otherwise you could be fined for no-show.
Motor Vehicle Hat: Every time you buy or sell a car in a private sale, the two of you should come into your Pecos County Tax Office to transfer the title. We can look up the title record so the buyer can be sure there is no salvage or legal issues associated with the title. If you're the one selling the car, coming into your Pecos County tax office to make sure the title is transferred to the new owner, completely protects you from anything the new owner might do with the vehicle. Whether you are buying or selling a vehicle, always remember to "Protect you title, Texas." For more information, you can visit the TxDot's web site, www.txdot.gov and type "protect your title" into the homepage search engine. We will be giving monthly car tips.
Voter Registrar: We encourage you to come and register to vote, 1. If you are a new resident to Pecos County and had been registered at another county, you have to be registered in Pecos County to vote here, 2. if you had your 18th birthday or 3. if you are a brand new Citizen to the USA.
As always, if you have any questions please call (432) 336-3386 or come by your office at 200 S. Nelson.
