Grady Ralph "Butch" Poe, Jr.

Mason

Grady Ralph "Butch" Poe, Jr., Mason, died Saturday, January 5, 2008. He was 61 years old.
Born October 31, 1946, and raised in Balmorhea, he was the son of Grady Ralph Poe, Sr., and Cora Christine "Teenie" Moore Poe.

Butch enjoyed hunting, roping, trapping and raising Angora goats. He moved to Terrell County in 1980 and worked as a foreman of the Oasis Ranch. He then moved to Sanderson in 1991 where he was manager of the Sanderson Wool Commission Company. The last years of his life were spent in the Mason hill country doing one of the things he loved, working with horses. Butch will be missed both as a father and a friend.

His parents, Grady Ralph Poe, Sr., and Cora Christine "Teenie" Moore Poe preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, James Timothy Poe, Sanderson; his daughter, Julie Beth Poe Hawkins and husband, T. C., Alpine; and two sisters, Alberta Titus and Cora Edna McDonald, both of Victoria.

Pallbearers were Roy Deaton, Jr., Wayne Sutton, Don Jackson, Bob Hayter, Stormy Pruitt, Richard Polk, Don Weinacht and Case McDonald. Honorary pallbearers were Cy Banner, Lee Renz, Chico Banner, Baron Moore, Johnny Moore, Vance Poe and Eddie Elliott.

Graveside services were held at the Balmorhea Cemetery Tuesday afternoon, January 8.

The family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mason Funeral Home and Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
