Dan Harris promoted to Assistant Chief at Marfa Sector
MARFA, TEXAS - Chief Patrol Agent John J. Smietana, Jr., U.S. Border Patrol Marfa Sector, has announced the appointment of Dan Harris, Jr., to Assistant Chief Patrol Agent. Harris has been the Patrol Agent in Charge of the Marfa Station for three years.
Harris grew up in West Texas and is a sixth generation law enforcement officer. He has an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from South Plains College in Levelland and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Angelo State University.
He began his law enforcement career in 1990 as a police officer in San Angelo. In 1995, he joined the Border Patrol and was assigned to the El Paso Station of the El Paso Sector. He was promoted to Senior Patrol Agent then Supervisory Patrol Agent at Lordsburg, New Mexico. Harris was then promoted to Assistant Chief Patrol Agent and assigned to Border Patrol Headquarters in Washington D.C. In 2004, he moved to Marfa Sector.
He and his wife, Katrina, have two children, Hunter and Halee, and make their home in Fort Davis.
