FSHS students earn superior ratings
Competing in the 28th Annual Foreign Language Festival at Angelo State University Friday, March 30 were twenty Fort Stockton High School students along with their teachers, Ilda N. Gonzalez and Grace R. Garcia. They were among the more than 1,700 students from 50 Texas high schools who attended the contest. This annual event is designed to celebrate the study of German, Spanish, Latin and French languages. The Fort Stockton students participated in the French competion.
The students could compete as a group in skits and puppet shows. Individual events included a written test, sight-reading, prose reading, poetry reading and extemporaneous speaking. Students were graded by rating their performances as "Poor, Fair, Average, Good, Excellent or Superior." Ilda N. Gonzalez, teacher, announced that the students earned 18 Superior ratings and 19 Excellent ratings.
