What's happening at Intermediate school

* Mrs. Kincaid's fourth grade classes are reading and studying one of the classic children's novels, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C. S. Lewis.
*Mrs. Lindley's and Mrs. Almendarez's fourth grade science classes will be identifying patterns and adaptations of plants & animals this week. Each student will be assigned a region of Texas and will research the region and answer questions such as: amount of rainfall?, climate?, and types of animal and plant life?. They will then compare and contrast information from these regions of Texas to Ft. Stockton's region, the Chihuahuan Desert. Each student will give a short presentation on Friday, January 12.
*Fourth grade reading teacher Mr. Goss would like to congratulate all of the students who exhibited outstanding citizenship in his class during the first semester. "I am very proud of these students for the good behavior that they have displayed in class and at school everyday", he said. Students that earned the Outstanding Super Student Honor received a certificate signed by Mr. Goss and their homeroom teacher for outstanding citizenship at Intermediate School during the first semester. The outstanding students in Mr. Goss's class were: Leslie Reed, James Wells, Kelsey Mesa, Ceasar Fernandez, Juan Gonzalez, Ysenia Salmon, Shelby Acosta, Nathan Granado, Joshua Mehan, Kayla Galindo, Mia Mesa, Edgardo Cabrera, Derek Leyva, Destiny Perez, Jessica Morales, Louis Acosta, Sierra Johnson, Darren Franco, Caleb Lamb, Thalia Lopez, Austin Hernandez, Amanda Gaylor, Andrec Castro, and Tatiana Pacheco. Good job, students.
*Mrs. Lujan's and Ms. Rodriguez' fourth grade classes have been working on probability. Parents please take notice with your children when it is used in the real world. Certain commercials are good resources for this. Highest Overall Averages for the first six weeks in Ms. Rodriguez' fourth grade class were: Kevin Marler-first sux weeks, Thalia Carrillo-second six weeks, Abigail Urias- third six weeks.
*Outstanding Student Awards in Mrs. Almendarez's classes: Noah Strong, Destiny Ramirez, and Joe Fernandez. Good job.
*Mr. Villarreal's Science classes are researching information on earth science and physical science and will be presenting to the class in groups using reading and writing skills such as main idea, summarizing, inference.
*Mrs. Dulaney's class is working on the Science TAKS objectives this week so that the students will be prepared for the Benchmark Test on the January 18. Christiane Galindo has made the "A" honor roll for all three six-week periods with perfect attendance. Good job, Christiane.
*Fifth grade math classes (Mrs. Jefferson, Ms. Benavente, and Mr. Sanchez) are reviewing what has been covered so far this year for the upcoming benchmark. fifth grade students are also working on identifying critical attributes of polygons, prisms and pyramids. Ordered pairs and grids will be explored, as well as transformations.
*Last month, the fifth graders in rooms 8 (Mrs. Estrada), 9 (Ms. Benavente), 10 (Mr. Griffith), and 14 (Mr. Villarreal) donated over $200 for the Christmas Angel project. Good job.
*Mrs. Hurt's fifth grade language arts classes are working on a classroom magazine for news, etc.
*Outstanding Student Award in Ms. Bagrich's class: Isidro Balvatin. Good job.
*Cafeteria Best Behaved Class Awards: Congratulations to Mrs. Ruiz's (fifth) and Mrs.Lujan's (fourth) homerooms on their excellent cafeteria behavior.
* Cafeteria Helpers Awards: Jonathan Carrillo, Leeandra Quintela, Manuela Sanchez, and Christopher Sage.
