New employees at Fort Stockton Independent School District
Forty-eight new employees have joined the staff of the Fort Stockton Independent School District for the 2006-2007 school year. In addition to new Assistant Superintendent Bobby Waldrop, Donald Pena, Assistant Principal at the Middle School, and Debbie Henderson, Curriculum Director at the Technical Center, there will be new people on every campus.
Joseph Alvarado
Joseph Alvarado joins operations as a mechanic helper.
Thomas Alvarado
Thomas Alvarado joins operations as a transportation supervisor.
Irma Arriaga
Irma Arriaga joins the Fort Stockton Intermediate School as a fourth grade writing teacher. This will be her first year teaching. Arriaga says she is "excited". Arriaga received her degree from Sul Ross State University/Region 18. She is married to Ruben Arriaga and has two children Chance and Victoria Arriaga. Her goal is to engage students in learning and have all students pass the TAKS by 100 percent.
Karenrose Ballew
Karenrose Ballew joins the Fort Stockton High School as a tenth grade biology teacher, a high school track coach and Middle School volleyball, basketball and track coach. Ballew moved to Fort Stockton from San Angelo and although she has no children she has two dogs Allie and Bree and one cat Lexi. She received her degree from Texas A&M University and this will be her first year teaching. Ballew is married to Bret Lee Ballew who is the new government trapper for the city of Fort Stockton. When asked how she liked Fort Stockton so far Ballew replied, "It is wonderful. We are both from small towns and we love it here." Ballew's goal is to have more student participation in both sports and the classroom.
Pat Barrett
Pat Barrett joins the Fort Stockton Middle School as a seventh and eighth grade reading teacher. She has been teaching for nine years and moved here from El Paso where she taught special education for five years at San Elizario High School. Barrett received her degree from Georgia Southern University in 1997. She is married to Joel Barrett who is a minister at the United Methodist Church. She has five children: Joel III ("J"), El Paso; Jennifer and Adam, Reno NV.; Brad, La Fayette, GA and Amy, Miami,FL. Barrett said, "she loves Pecos County and lived in Iraan from 1997-2000 so it's like home".
Karen Brownfield
Karen Brownfield joins the Fort Stockton High School as a theatre arts and yearbook teacher. Brownfield received her degree from the University of New Mexico and has been teaching for six years. Brownfield moved to Fort Stockton from Fort Hancock and has one son Jackson Brownfield who is also a theatre student attending Sul Ross State University. When asked how Brownfield liked Fort Stockton so far she replied, "I love it. I have met some of the best people in the world." Her goal for the upcoming school year is looking forward to working with the students, staff and the community of Fort Stockton.
Dina Carlton
Dina Carlton joins the Fort Stockton High School as an Inclusion Aide. She is married to B.J. Carlton who is also a teacher and has two children, McKayla and Bailey. They moved here from Eastland. Carlton said, "Fort Stockton exceeds my expectations. I hope to allow all students the opportunity to receive extra, one-on-one assistance in order to excel in all subjects."
Ruben Carrillo
Ruben Carrillo joins food services as an operations assistant.
Julien Cirrincione
Julien Cirrincione joins the Fort Stockton High School as a ninth and tenth grade pre- ap world geography and pre-ap world history teacher. Cirrincione received his degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and has been teaching for over a year. He moved here from Duncanville and has three children, Austin Sipes, Cristen Cirrincione and Cara Cirrincione. Cirrincione said Fort Stockton is "great" so far and his goals are to work harder than ever, improve reading and writing skills and prepare students more for college.
Paul Davis
Paul Davis joins the Fort Stockton High School as a physics and IPC teacher. He has been teaching for eight years and has moved to Fort Stockton from Stanton. He attended both Angelo State University and the University of Texas Permian Basin. He is married to Kay Davis who is employed by the Big Spring Independent School District. He has three children Wendy, Daniel and Joel. Davis said, "everyone I met has been very friendly.
Ruben Devereaux
Ruben Devereaux joins the High School as a Spanish teacher and a coach.
Maria DeLeon
Maria DeLeon joins food services at the Fort Stockton High School.
Allison Espinosa
Allison Espinosa joins the Alamo Elementary School as a second grade teacher. She has been a teacher for one year and received her degree from Sul Ross State University where she is still attending working on her masters of education as a reading specialist. Espinosa moved to Fort Stockton from Pecos and is married to Delfin Espinosa. Espinosa said, "I love this school district and town and want to have all my second graders achieve high academic success.
Elsa Estrada
Elsa Estrada joins food services at the Butz Education Center.
Tiffany Ezzell
Tiffany Ezzell joins the Fort Stockton High School as a family and consumer science teacher.
Scott Fish
Scott Fish joins the Fort Stockton High School as an algebra I teacher and a coach. Fish received his degree from Western New Mexico University and has been teaching for two years. Fish moved to Fort Stockton from Deming, New Mexico with his wife Alexandra and two children Sadie and Sarissa. When asked how he liked Fort Stockton so far Fish replied, " It hasn't changed much since I lived here." Fish's goals are to improve the classroom and the athletics he is involved in.
Alfonso Flores
Alfonso Flores joins the Fort Stockton High School as a custodian.
Alexandra Fuentez
Alexandra Fuentez joins Fort Stockton Middle School as a teacher. She will be coaching at Fort Stockton High School.
Veronica Galindo
Veronica Galindo joins the Fort Stockton Middle School in the food services department.
Erasmo Gonzalez
Erasmo Gonzalez joins the Fort Stockton Middle School as a custodian.
James B. Goss
James B. Goss joins the Intermediate School and will be teaching reading and social studies for fourth grade. Goss received his degree from Sul Ross State University. This will be his first year teaching and has moved to Fort Stockton from Alpine, where she lived for three years. When asked how he liked Fort Stockton Goss said, "Love it so much and hope to be here for a long time." His goals are to bring the TAKS scores up and have the campus be "exemplary" this school year.
Christy Jones
Christy Jones joins Alamo Elementary School as a first grade teacher. Jones moved to Fort Stockton from Andrews and this will be her first year teaching. Jones received her degree from West Texas A&M University. When asked how she liked Fort Stockton Jones replied, "everyone has been so nice and welcoming." Her goal is to have her first graders prepared for academic success.
Sean Kilkenny
Sean Kilkenny joins the Fort Stockton High School and Fort Stockton Middle school as a band director. This is his first year teaching and moved to Fort Stockton from El Paso. Kilkenny received his degree from the University of Texas El Paso and is engaged to Davette F. Alonzo. Kilkenny said, "people are friendly and I'm enjoying it very much." His goal is to help continue success for the band.
Jodi Rodgers LaFrance
Jodi Rodgers LaFrance joins the Fort Stockton Middle School as a sixth and seventh grade reading teacher. She has been teaching for one year and moved here from Fort Hancock. LaFrance received her degree from Texas A&M University. She is married to Jodie LaFrance who is also a school employee. LaFrance says, " I am blessed by all my neighbors. We feel like people have been very kind." Her goals are to become an active member of the Fort Stockton community. She also looks forward to developing lasting relationships with people in Fort Stockton.

LaFrance received his degree from West Texas A&M University. He is married to Jodi LaFrance, also a school employee. When asked how he liked Fort Stockton he replied, " it is wonderful." His goals are looking forward to learning more in the classroom and helping develop great character in the students.

Eddie Mariscal
Eddie Mariscal joins the Butz Education Center as a science teacher teaching subjects such as biology, physics and chemistry. Mariscal has moved to Fort Stockton from El Paso and this will be his first year teaching. He received his degree from Sul Ross State University. When asked how he liked Fort Stockton so far Mariscal replied, "I love it." His goals are to improve TAKS scores and incorporate multicultural extracurricular activities like music and folklorico dancing.

Ashleigh McWilliams
Ashleigh McWilliams joins the Fort Stockton High School as an English III-IV AP and English III teacher. This is her first year teaching and has moved to Fort Stockton from Lubbock where she received her degree from Texas Tech University. McWilliams said, "the people here are wonderful". McWilliams' expectations are student excellence and success.

Gabrielle Mejia joins the Butz Education Center as a Child Care Aide.

John Orona joins the Butz Education Center as a custodian.
Frances Ann Overton
Frances Ann Overton joins the Apache Elementary School as a music and art teacher for kindergarten through third grade. Overton received her degree from the University of Texas Permian Basin. She has been teaching for 25 years and moved to Fort Stockton from McKinney. She has two children, Brent Collins and Billy Wayne Overton. Overton said, "Fort Stockton is great." Her goal is to get her harp program in all grades.
Eloy Perez
Eloy Perez joins the Fort Stockton High School as an agricultural teacher. Perez received his degree from Texas A&M University Kingsville and this will be his first year teaching. Perez moved here from Corpus Christi and when asked how he liked Fort Stockton so far he replied, "great". His goals are to increase numbers and get the kids out and about.
Jessica Portillo
Jessica Portillo joins the Apache Elementary School as a second grade teacher.
Dan Pulattie
Dan Pulattie joins the Fort Stockton Middle School as a language arts teacher. He has been teaching for two years and obtained his degree from Texas Tech University. Pulattie is a native Texan but has moved here from Chama, New Mexico. Pulattie is married to Melinda and has two children Skyler, 4 and Emma, 1 1/2. When asked how he liked Fort Stockton so far Pulattie replied, "can't get enough, it's great." He hopes to improve in the classroom and in athletics.

Kirstie Ramirez joins the Fort Stockton High School as an English teacher.
Susan Sawyer
Susan Sawyer joins the Alamo Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher.
Derrick Taylor
Derrick Taylor joins the Fort Stockton High School as both a geometry teacher and a coach. He has been teaching for 14 years and has moved here from Lamesa. Taylor received his degree from Howard Payne University. He is married to Shelley Taylor and has two children Johnathan, 7 and Madison, 6. When asked how he liked Fort Stockton so far Taylor replied, " Love it." His goal is to have a successful year in athletics and in the classroom.
Beverly Tinkler
Beverly Tinkler joins the Fort Stockton Middle School as a sixth grade science teacher. Tinkler has been teaching for eight years and received her degree from Sul Ross State University. She is married to Wayne Tinkler and has one son James Tinkler. When asked how she liked Fort Stockton so far Tinkler replied, " love it, everyone has been incredibly helpful." Tinkler's goals are to motivate the students and keep them interested in learning.

Tiodoso Valenzuela joins the technology center as a technician.
Blake Wade
Blake Wade joins Fort Stockton High School as a biology and IPC teacher and also as a high school and middle school coach. This is his first year teaching and has moved to Fort Stockton from Lubbock where he received his degree from Texas Tech University. Wade is married to Stephanie Wade. They are expecting a child around March or April.
When asked how he liked Fort Stockton, he replied, "love it, it is very quiet." Wade's goals are to increase the TAKS scores and have his students enjoy and appreciate science.
