Keep Historic Fort Stockton Beautiful awards art contest winners

Each year, the Keep Historic Fort Stockton Beautiful board of directors holds an annual art contest for fourth and fifth graders from the Fort Stockton Intermediate School. Students are awarded first, second, and third-place ribbons, with the first-place art piece being transferred onto a magnetic strip to be displayed on the city’s sanitation trucks. This year’s contest was held on May 8.

New FFA officers appointed

The 2024-25 Fort Stockton FFA Officers were recently elected by their peers. The new officers include President: Andrew Black, Vice President: Madison Hanson, Secretary: Brenna Downing, Treasurer: Daniel Perez, Reporter: Michaela Davis, Student Advisor: Isabela Chavez, Advisors: Crystal Galindo and Juan Vasquez.

William Chester

Body
William Chester (Bill) Lannom passed away on April 22 at Cimarron Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in El Paso, at the age of 80. He was born in Fort Stockton, on May 18,1943 to parents Chester Roy and Gertrude Ellen Lannom.

Youth health clinic scheduled in June

Body
Fort Stockton Athletics, with Pecos County Memorial Hospital District (PCMHD), hosted free physicals for students within Fort Stockton Independent School District (FSISD). Over 90 students took advantage of this generous opportunity. Coaches from Fort Stockton high school and middle school ensured that parents were prepared to complete their students’ supplemental forms, while student athletic trainers ensured all documentation was filed accordingly.
